Description
Native to the temperate zones of Asia, Europe and Africa, the Bonsai Cotoneaster Microphyllus belongs to the Rosaceae family. It is a slow-growing shrub with small, green, semi-caducous leaves (there are also "variegated" species in which part of the leaf is white). It is much appreciated for its white or pink flowers and fruits that can range from red to yellow or even black.

Outdoors, where it gets 2-3 hours of direct sunlight a day (ideally in the morning or late afternoon), protected from strong winds and frost.
Water the soil abundantly until enough water comes out of the drainage holes to evenly moisten the soil, always from above, never by immersion, with a fine-drained watering can (there are specific ones for Bonsai). Allow the top layer of soil to dry out slightly between each watering (to check if the plant needs water, touch the soil with your fingers). If you have a dish under the Bonsai, never leave any water in it (to prevent the roots from rotting). There is no advantage in spraying the leaves, only do it on the days you fertilize and if the fertilizer is for foliar application, but make sure they arrive dry at night to avoid fungus.
From February to October/November, with "Fertil Bonsai" and "Bio Bonsai" and is reinforced with "P/K Bonsai" for flowering/fruiting and as a preventative fungicide.
It grows very bushy, with bouquets crosses. Maintenance pruning is done throughout its growth. At the end of winter, before bud break, we can prune it to define its structure. As soon as we see the appearance of flower buds, we prune carefully so as not to eliminate them.
With "Terra Bonsai-Folhosas" and "Rhiza Bonsai" in February, before bud break.
It can be done all year round.
