Ficus Elástica 'Robusta' is an evergreen plant from Asia (southwest Asia) that can grow up to 60 meters in its habitat. In a controlled domestic environment, its growth is restricted to the size of its pot and, with appropriate pruning, it can maintain a shorter stature. Its large, glossy leaves give a tropical look to the space, with the advantage of being an extremely hardy and long-lasting species.
Ficus elastica are great for removing certain toxins from the air and are therefore considered purifying plants. The Ficus elastica 'robusta', in addition to giving a tropical look to any environment, can also be associated with a retro-chic look, taking us back to the decorations of the 70s. Despite this revival, Ficus elastica 'robusta' is a variety very similar to the one used at the time, but with broader, shinier leaves.

Cares
Prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate partial shade. Avoid direct sunlight which can burn the leaves.
Water when the first 2-3 cm of the soil is dried. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
Prefers temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C.
It prefers medium to high humidity, ideally between 40% and 60%. Can benefit from occasional spraying.
It needs well-drained soil rich in organic matter. A mixture of potting soil with perlite or sand is ideal.
Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer.
Prune regularly to maintain the desired shape and remove dead or damaged branches.
Can be affected by mealybugs, mites and aphids. Inspect regularly and treat with insecticidal soap or suitable pesticides.
It may need support as it grows, using stakes or plant supports.
Considered toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
