Cares
It needs bright indirect light, preferably near a window facing east or west. Due to the lower amount of chlorophyll in variegated leaves, they need more light to photosynthesize efficiently.
Watering should be done by immersion when the first 2-3 cm of the soil is dried. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
It prefers temperatures between 18-27°C and does not tolerate cold temperatures below 15°C.
It needs high humidity, ideally between 60-80%. Spray the leaves regularly or use a humidifier.
It should be planted in well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. A mixture of potting soil, perlite and pine bark is recommended.
Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer.
Prune occasionally to remove damaged or old leaves and stimulate growth.
Can be attacked by mealybugs, mites and aphids. Inspect regularly and treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
It may need support to keep its large leaves upright. Use guardians or bars.
Toxic to pets and humans if ingested, may cause oral and gastric irritation.
